Countries in my Mission: Croatia. Part 1

Ok for everyone to know when I opened my call I have trying to find out things about the countries inside my mission. Now I have decided to tell you somethings about the countries. There are going to be six blogs about them, one country at a time. Hopefully I can do one at least one a week, we will see. I will start with the country Croatia.

Croatia.

Government. Croatia was once part of Yugoslavia which was split into six countries, All of which are in my mission. It became an independent country in 1990. It may seem that it is a new country, but your wrong there probably isn't much more growth for it at all. It is a Democratic Republic and from the 1990 to 2000 it used a presidential government, but now it is a parlimential government.

Transportation. Croatia's best way of travel is driving for they have contructed new highways and freeways. They also use the rail system like most of Europe but it is not as good as most of the rail system in the other countries. It also has Three majer airports.

Food. In the coastal area the food is more of Greek, Italian, and Illyrian food. The inland area has more food that comes for the Turks, Hungarian, and Viennese. Plates that they have is goulash, squid, sea spider salad, duck, pheasant, odojak (Roast Pork), veal steaks, cod with potatoes. Their desserts and sweets sound very good. They do things like strudels and Orahnjača (sweet bread with walnuts.)

Sports. Croatia's main sports are football (soccer), tennis, waterpolo, and hand ball. The Croatian soccer team came in third place at the 1998 World Cup and one of the players got the golden boot for scoring the most goals in the season. There are two big soccer teams besides the national soccer team, the NK Dinamo Zagreb and HNK Hajduk Split. They were the 2003 world champs in handball. They have the best handball player in the world, Ivano Balic. In waterpolo the Mladost team is the seven time champs of Europe and the Croatian waterpolo team is considered the best in the world.

Nature. Croatia has one really well known national park, the Plitvice Park. It has many beautiful waterfalls. Just look for yourself.

My Mission Call

Hey, everyone. I got my mission call. I opened it on Friday the 5 of September. It said, "Elder Taylor Morey Armstrong you are called to... serve in the Slovenia/Croatia Mission... you will be speak Serbian..." How cool is that. My mission covers six countries; Slovenia, Croatia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia, and Bosnia. I am to report on the 3rd of December.

My mission farewell is on the 30th of November, last Sunday of the month. So all of you that read this are invited to come. It is going to be at my church build. If any of you don't know where that is, it is on 3200 west and 5375 south. You can't miss it is the first church on the right coming from 5400 south.

See you all there.
